The Variable Checkerspot, or Anicia Variable Checkerspot (Euphydryas chalcedona), is a small butterfly common in the western United States, from Washington to Colorado, south to Utah and parts of Arizona. Its coloration is variable, typically black and orange, with cream colored areas as well.
Wing spread: 1.3" - 2.2"
Host Plants: Paintbrushes, monkey flowers, beardtongues, snowberries
